Hiring a full time Financial Counselor. Hours are Monday through Friday, daytime hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains detailed information on actions taken to collect accounts.
Continually reviews private pay accounts.
Contacts delinquent payers and sends necessary form letters to delinquent guarantors as final contact before further action is taken.
Writes off bad debt accounts when approved by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Turns over delinquent accounts to collection agency or court when approved by the CFO.
Maintains records of accounts written off, judgments granted, bankruptcy etc.
Processes, posts and maintains all payment information from collection agencies.
Selects accounts and transmits monthly statements.
Manages electronic payment methods from the hospital website as well as post payments to accounts receivable balancing with the ACH payment to our bank.
Coordinates and maintains records of the Financial Assistance program.
Works with patients on down payments prior to procedures.
Assists patients with securing insurance through Medicaid or the market place.
Qualifications:
Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience: Prior collection experience along with accounting and data entry preferred. Must have good computer and communication skills.
Job knowledge:
Knowledge of collection laws and regulations preferred. Must present a firm and fair image of themselves and the hospital when dealing with account contacts.
Applicant must pass a background check, health assessment and drug screen before hiring.
