Job Description and Duties Candidates must perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Under the general direction of the Cash Forecasting and Reconciliations Section manager, the Financial Accountant II is responsible for the administrative and technical oversight of professional financial accounting staff who perform complex statewide financial accounting in accordance with the laws of the State of California, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial accounting rules and regulations contained in the State Administrative Manual, the Uniform Codes Manual, and procedures prescribed by the State Controller's Office. Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
•Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
•Knowledge of the organization and functions of the State Controller's Office and California State Government.
•Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, standards, and procedures.
•Ability to apply mathematical reasoning and analyze data, draw sound conclusions, and make recommendations.
•Ability to organize and establish workload priorities, work well under pressure, and exercise initiative and flexibility.
•Organized in managing work and meeting deadlines with the ability to manage multiple priorities requiring quick turnaround times
