Visit Silver City to learn more.DescriptionSkilled mechanic who under supervision safely performs diagnostic, maintenance, installation and repair of pump systems and associated equipment.Assist with and perform the removal, repair and installation of pumps, pipelines, fire water systems, interceptor wells, potable water systems, hydraulic systems and their associated partsAssist with and perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on pumping systems by checking bearings "grease and purge", motor temp, coupling temp, adjusting packing, checking for visual and vibration signs of breakdown, etc.Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections and housekeepingMay perform welding (Stick, MIG, Intershield, Drisco Fusion) and fabrication of brackets, headers and other related componentsMay operate equipment such as: trucks, bobcats, forklifts, mobile cranes, backhoes, loaders, road graders, and small mobile equipmentPerform other duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum QualificationsOne (1) year of experience in pump mechanical/maintenanceora combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenanceValid Driver's LicenseKnowledge of blue stake processAbility to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision making skillsAbility to work and effectively communicate with others in a team environmentDemonstrate safety as a core valueMust have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.PreferredHigh School diploma or GEDHighly skilled mechanic who safely performs diagnostic, maintenance and repair of pump systems and associated equipment.Previous experience with pumps, piping and related systemsExperience operating various types of mobile equipmentBasic computer skillsCriteria/ConditionsAbility to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsMust be able to work in a potentially stressful environmentWhile performing duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, see and work in confined spacesWork is performed in a mining or industrial environment which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesOccasionally may be asked required to life moderately heavy to heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workdayWill be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operationPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFreeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state lawWhat We Offer YouThe estimated pay range for this role is currently$21.50 - $29.00/hour.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
