ABOUT IJC Immigrant Justice Corps (IJC) is the country's first and only fellowship program dedicated to meeting the unprecedented need for high-quality legal assistance for immigrants seeking citizenship, other lawful status, and fighting deportation.
IJC mobilizes the country's most talented law school and college graduates to provide high quality representation to low-income immigrants.
IJC's two-year fellowship program connects Fellows to the best legal services providers and community-based institutions nationwide. The program fosters a culture of creative thinking that engenders new strategies to reduce the justice gap for immigrant families, ensuring that immigration status is no longer a barrier to social and economic opportunity. Since its founding in 2014, IJC has trained 300+ fellows who have effectively helped over 100,000 immigrants and family members with a 92% success rate on completed cases.
THE OPPORTUNITY At a time of strategic growth, IJC seeks a Fellowship Manager responsible for supporting the professional development and connectivity of our fellows and host organizations across the Midwest Region (i.e., Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin ). The Mid-West Fellowship Manager will coordinate troubleshooting, conduct site visits, identify third-year fellowship options, and other connectivity with Mid-West Host Organizations. In addition, the Mid-West Fellowship Manager will work in conjunction with the Director of Training & Legal Technical Assistance (TLTA), the Director of Fellowship, and the Mid-West Managing Attorney, to document trends and implement solutions that support and nurture the professional development of IJC's Mid-West Fellows.
Responsibilities will include the following: Management of Fellowship Service Delivery- (50% of Time) Participate in and coordinate Fellow check-ins and maintain accurate records of interactions with Fellows and Host Organizations Mentor and provide guidance to Fellows on topics, including: integration into nonprofit workplaces, supervision, work/life balance, organization and time management skills, professional development, interpersonal dynamics, client boundaries, and others. Support TLTA Fellowship Office Hours and assist in developing practical skills, resiliency, and wellness programming for this space. Monitor the Fellow Listserv to record questions to address during Fellowship/TLTA office hours. Work with the other member(s) of the Mid-West team to develop specialized content relating to wellness and professional development for Fellows in this region. Work collaboratively with Fellowship Director and Fellowship team to create programming for areas of need regionally and nationally to meet emerging demands for Fellow integration and success. Create and facilitate community-building activities for Fellows in the Mid-West region. Support and deliver quarterly regional engagements among Fellows. Guide the development of Mid-West Fellow leaders for community-building. Seek and resource localized support for Fellows throughout the region, and state-by-state. Integrate peer-to-peer opportunities among Fellows and Alumni Partner with Recruitment for region-driven Fellow participation Troubleshoot all Mid-West Fellows' issues by being the first point of contact when a Fellow reaches out for help. Schedule meetings, document interactions, and escalate appropriately according to escalation protocols. Provide management-level supervision to regional coordinator(s) when hired, and oversee administrative compliance for the Fellowship department, including contact lists, CRM, and SharePoint Plans, coordinates, and supports the delivery of professional development training sessions for Community and Justice Fellows. Support and manage DOJ Accreditation support and record keeping. Host Organization Engagement – (30% of Time) Conduct virtual and in-person site visits of Mid-West region Host Organizations, particularly when troubleshooting is required. Accurately record site visit assessments, conduct feedback analyses, upload relevant documents to CRM, and manage maintenance of record-keeping for all Mid-West Host Organization engagements. Ensure HOs can meet IJC's standards and requirements for hosting a Fellow. Act as the first point of contact for IJC Mid-West Host Organizations. Participate in the recruitment, selection, and review of the Host Organization application process. Assist with the planning and execution of current and new Host Organization meetings. Other Duties as Assigned – (20% of Time) Participate in the Fellow recruitment and selection process. Independent project management and team collaboration for Fellow support incubation and delivery. Support Fellowship & TLTA Directors to update and maintain the template bank. Assist with all aspects of IJC's training program including coordination and delivery of training sessions; the management of registration, confirmation, and post-training follow-through; and support the maintenance of all records associated with CLE Training and distribution to Fellows, as required. Engage and support the Advisory Committees as directed and provide additional support Associate Alumni Director with the engagement of IJC alumni and develop Mid-West Alumni engagement opportunities. Work with Data and Analytics teams to improve the accuracy and timeliness of host organization monthly/quarterly data reporting and assist with program data collection and reporting tasks. Provide support to Fellowship Director on additional project development, rapid response Fellow supports, and other incubating Fellowship initiatives, as needed. Skills and Experience Juris Doctor (J.D) in the legal field preferred; Masters in a related field will be considered, with at least 10 years of experience working with immigrants, students, early career professionals, and/or other vulnerable populations. State bar admission in IL or TX preferred – must be admitted in one of the states listed in the region. (Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin.) Experience with supporting direct legal services for vulnerable clients, ideally immigration and immigrant rights work. Familiarity with teaching, organizing, and leading adult education trainings; sensitivity to new professional needs and building a cohort of practice and network of public interest practitioners. Extensive experience in the professional development and/or workplace coaching of new advocates in human rights work. Tech-savvy professional with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, and a high level of Excel skills Familiarity and experience with large-scale virtual/online presentation coordination via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.; SharePoint navigation and management skills.? COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The salary for this position is set at $90,000. Excellent benefits package including 401(k), dental and vision insurance, paid time off, and flexible spending account.
