Join our team and contribute to our network of hospitals and outpatient facilities across multiple states. This opportunity will allow you to work remotely, focusing on accurate and timely billing and coding for our outpatient services, including interventional procedures. Role Summary:
As a Facility Biller/Coder, you will be responsible for independent charge capture, coding, and reconciliation for various outpatient divisions. This includes handling high-volume services and ensuring all billing and coding align with ICD-10 and CPT-4 standards at a minimum accuracy rate of 95%. You will also play a critical role in resolving discrepancies and reconciling charges to reflect accurately the services delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding systems to translate medical information from encounter forms into applicable codes and charges.
Independently manage coding and billing for distinct outpatient divisions, including areas like diagnostic radiology or specialized interventional procedures.
Maintain high accuracy in diagnostic and procedure coding, and effectively handle charge reconciliation and medical necessity edits.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior billing and coding staff.
Ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines and hospital policies.
Engage in ongoing education to refine coding skills and adapt to regulatory changes.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word and Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven analytical abilities with a high attention to detail.
Experience with charge capture processes and medical record review.
Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding books and a solid understanding of basic code structure.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), COC, CCS, CCS-P, or specialty coding credentials required.
Work Conditions:
Predominantly remote work environment with a standard 40-hour workweek.
Regular daytime shifts from Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
The role is classified as non-exempt and sedentary with minimal occupational risk.
