We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Independent Contractor to assess afterschool programs for school-age youth. In this role, you will ensure programs comply with quality standards, conduct on-site observations, and write comprehensive assessment reports.
As an Assessor, you will:
- Travel to local afterschool program sites to evaluate programming, staffing, activities, and compliance against established criteria
- Conduct on-site observations of programs in action, taking careful notes and completing evaluation tools to capture program strengths and areas for improvement
- Synthesize findings into well-written assessment reports that provide a holistic view of program quality, highlight successes, and offer constructive feedback
- Submit timely electronic reports within 10 days of completing site visits
- Maintain open communication with internal team, confirming visit schedules, reporting changes, and responding to questions promptly
- Build rapport with afterschool staff onsite through friendly, professional interactions
- Attend occasional training and planning meetings
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, health, education, or related field
- 5+ years experience with youth programming and program evaluation
- Knowledge of quality standards for afterschool programs
- Strong writing and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Familiarity working with diverse populations
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally
- Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings
This is a contract position paid per completed site visit and assessment report.
