The Haywood County Arts Council (HCAC) is an art-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote artists, art education, and innovation in art. Located in Waynesville,
NC with a gallery on Main Street, HCAC has been in existence for 45 years.
Executive Director Job Description Position: Full-time Location: Haywood County, North Carolina Salary Range: $43,000 - $48,000 Main Responsibilities & Percentages 1. Organizational Management: 25%
2. Development and Fundraising: 35%
3. Program & Events Management 30%
4. Financial Management 10%
Organizational Management: o Recruits, trains, mentors, retains, coordinates, and manages paid and volunteer staff o Maintains and ensures a safe and clean work environment o Approves timesheets and manages outside personnel contracts o Responds to all inquiries not designated within another job description o Acts as Human Resources with support from Board of Directors o Orders supplies and equipment, and manages building and technology improvements o Reviews all marketing materials o Facilitates in coordination with Board President and committee chairs, Board of Director
Meetings and Committee meetings o Builds relationships, participates on boards, and meets with local, state, and federal partners
Development and Fundraising: General: o Creates, implements, tracks, and updates Annual Development Plan and 3-year Strategic Plan o Keeps donor database up to date and manages donor donation records o Facilitates Development Committee meeting
Grants: o Leads general management of grants o Identifies, researches, and applies for new grant opportunities o Tracks budgets and spending funds appropriately and in a timely manner o Maintains digital records o Reports on and ensures compliance with grant commitments o Administers North Carolina Arts Council pass through grants as Designated County Partner
Fundraising: o Increases individual, foundation, and business sponsorships by 10% annually
o Builds relationships with individuals, businesses, and partners at the local, state, and federal levels. o Plans and implements annual fundraiser and quarterly mini-fundraisers
Programs and Events: o Leads implementation, creation, and continuous improvement of existing and new HCAC programs and events o Coordinates with and manages volunteer/ paid program coordinators o Ensures website is up to date with programmatic information o Implements or creates programs that implement HCAC's mission o Facilitates Program and Events Committee
Budget Tracking and Accounting: o Monitors gallery sales and bookkeeper activities o Tracks revenues and expenses as it relates to HCAC's proposed budget o Works with accountant on calendar and fiscal year-end reporting requirements o Maintains appropriate financial records in hard copy and digital
Executive Director Qualifications: o Proficiency with grant-writing, fundraising, and donor development o Experience with strategic planning and implementation o Demonstrated organizational, management, and interpersonal skills o Ability to plan, manage, and monitor programs and fund-raising events o Ability to keep multiple projects moving forward at the same time o Ability to supervise both paid and volunteer staff o Excellent verbal and written communication skills o Love and passion for both Visual and Performing Arts
Education / Preferred Experience: o 2-3 years experience working in or with nonprofit organizations o Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university o Familiarity with QuickBooks, Google Products, and Microsoft Office
