The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is actively seeking an Event Operations Assistant Manager.

This position reports to the Special Events Manager and works closely with the Special Events Logistics Manager to manage multiple aspects of event logistics and permitting for special events produced and sponsored by the City of Jacksonville which include site layouts, port-o-lets, tents, tables, chairs, decorations, street closures, barricades, and directing assigned staff.
Examples of Work Oversees and coordinates needed services and event infrastructure from other departments or outside contractors/agencies for site operations, street closures, parking, production (including but not limited to staging, sound/lights, backline, and stagehands), heavy equipment, fencing, waste management and other infrastructure needed to successfully executive the event. Creates accurate site maps and oversees event site setup and tear down. Manages the Special Events permitting process including oversight on special events software. Works with applicants to ensure a successful event. Coordinates all technology infrastructure for events through the City's ITD department or third-party vendor. Operates a computer to develop, generate and maintain detailed checklists, site maps, work plans, event schedules/timelines and event reports. Manages and monitors site operation and production activities and identifies creative solutions to operational challenges as they arise. Schedules, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned staff. Communicates clear direction, manages for results, and leads organizational change. Assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, demonstrates leadership in evaluating, developing and motivating employees. Open Requirements/Supplemental Information Five years of education and/or professional experience in event management, which must include two years of experience in coordinating and executing special events.
One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
