Receive 40 hours Paid Time Off upon hire! About the Position: The City of Grand Junction is accepting applications for an Equipment Operator with the Project Team. Join a team responsible for operating a variety of equipment including dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, tractors, forklifts, groundskeeping equipment, snow removal equipment, power and hand tools, and other specialized maintenance and construction equipment related to the area of assignment. In this role, you will also need to perform safety and maintenance inspections on assigned vehicles or equipment as well as perform routine vehicle and equipment repairs in the field. About the General Service Department: The General Services Department was created in 2018 to provide quality internal management services that support City departments in a manner which enable them to carry out their community missions in a cost-effective and efficient manner. Duties What You'll Do: Operate a variety of equipment including dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, tractors, high-velocity jet flusher and vac-all truck equipment, grounds keeping equipment, snow removal equipment, power and hand tools, and other specialized maintenance and construction equipment. Participate in the installation, maintenance, and reconstruction of streets, sidewalks, bike paths, and related systems to include road construction and repair, concrete construction and finishing, and the removal of leaves, snow, and ice. Install and replace guardrails, barriers, and other street system safety devices. Identify and prepare supplies and equipment needed for each assigned project; maintain inventory and submit supply requests as needed. What We're Looking For: One year (1) of general labor experience. High School Diploma or G.E.D. Possession of, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire, a valid Colorado Class "A" Commercial driver's license. Some assignments may require the ability to obtain certifications specific to area of assignment. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
