Reports to: Engineer Manager - Equipment Group
Description: Performs all tasks related to new equipment development including but not limited to concept development, sourcing, progress tracking, validation of performance and approval for hand-off to Manufacturing Plants
RESPONSIBILITIES: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions Conduct research to test or analyze the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications Read dials and meters to determine amperage, voltage, electrical output and input at specific operating temperature to analyze parts performance Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications Evaluate tool drawing designs and comparing with original specifications for form and function using engineering skills Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment, and measuring instruments Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems Authorities for an employee are granted by means of work instructions, policies and procedures and/or direction provided by management to meet the requirements of the customer EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High school diploma + 10 Years Maintenance Experience; or BS Degree in ME, IE, or ET; or AAS in Mechatronics, Maintenance, or Tooling SKILLS: Experience working with Windows operating system as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), AutoCad, and/or Solidworks experience- preferred Good communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to write technical reports Effective at troubleshooting - root cause analysis and problem solving techniques Background with PLC programming and Robot programming- preferred Ability to travel for extended periods of time with limited prior notice Must be able to work any shift and overtime as required to support department/company scheduled targets / objectives in a quality/timing manner Knowledge of ISO/IATF- preferred Work Environment: This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment the noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud
Physical Demands: The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds The employee may also be required to work in hot temperatures
