Job Description:Summary:Barr is seeking a senior environmental engineer to join its Minneapolis office and undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the investigation, evaluation, and remediation of contaminated sites.Work may include managing multidisciplinary teams; preparing technical work plans and reports; coordinating ASTM Phase I environmental site assessments, including in support of property transactions (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures); designing, implementing, and coordinating activities associated with Phase II investigations, including investigating contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor intrusion; conducting remediation technology evaluations and feasibility studies; developing site management strategies, remedial design, and response action plans; and coordinating site remediation activities. Responsibilities will also include development of proposals, scopes of work, and budgets; communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory agency personnel; and overall project management. Responsibilities may also include mentoring staff, building client relationships, and business development.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering or related disciplines10 or more years of relevant work experienceStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clientsStrong technical and problem-solving skillsAttention to detail, accuracy, and completenessStrong computer skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheetsA flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needsWillingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needsPossession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering or related disciplinesRegistered Professional EngineerFamiliarity with Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) guidance documentsProject management and leadership experience with complex projectsExperience conducting communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory and agency personnelStaff mentoring, building client relationships, and business developmentA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and one's home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.NOTE:Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided.
