Description JOB TITLE: English Language Developer (ELD) Assistant DEPARTMENT: Owasso Public Schools REPORTS TO: Principal/ELL Teacher FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt CONTRACT STATUS: Full-time / 10 months SALARY SCHEDULE: Paraprofessional APPROVED BY: Charlene Duncan APPROVED DATE: 6/25/21 SUMMARY: Provide administrative, instructional, organizational assistance to ELD teacher. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: these statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required. Assist with classroom management and instruction of ELL students. Provide small group or one-on-one tutoring of ELL students. Administer oral, reading, and writing English proficiency tests to ELL students. Summarize and provide analysis of test results. Help the teacher compile data for required ELL/Migrant reports to the State Department of Education. Monitor students in the cafeteria, and playground type setting. Develops cooperative and functional relationships with district staff and the public; maintains consistent and punctual attendance; ensures job responsibilities are met competently and within established deadlines. Assists with special projects. All other duties as assigned by the administrator. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent Associate Degree or higher OR 48 hours of college credit OR passed the ParaPRo (paraprofessional test) OR passed the OGET (Oklahoma General Education Test) OR passed the WorkKey Generally will have at least one year's experience in a closely related field. Fluency in a second language is preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Computer literate; excellent written and oral communication ability; strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and laws applicable to education and special education; Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done. Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language including common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
