Job Description AECOM is seeking an experienced and talented Engineering Sustainability Lead with relevant experience in electrical engineering, sustainability, decarbonization, and photovoltaic system implementation at building, campus, and regional scales. The appropriately qualified candidate will be responsible for leading technical design teams as the group works together to put out engineering designs for clients in institutional, corporate, and government sectors.
We are seeking someone passionate about sustainability, someone ambitious who is interested in advancing their career and growing a practice area in collaboration with a team of dedicated engineering and decarbonization leaders.
This position is to be based in one of the following Great Lakes locations: Detroit, Grand Rapids or Minneapolis
Responsibilities and requirements for this position include but are not limited to: Work directly with clients, sustainability teams, facility operators, utilities, and related end-users to develop and implement decarbonization strategies at building, campus, and regional scales. Develop advanced technical knowledge in the renewable energy solutions including photovoltaic systems, plant renovations, battery storage, energy auditing and asset portfolio electrification implementation. Lead engineering teams through all phases of renewable energy and decarbonization implementation projects, including planning, design development, construction documentation, construction administration and commissioning. Develop a comprehensive understanding of clients' sustainability requirements, standards and, policies for completion. Lead development of project scope, plan, and services during the contract process. Lead development, modification, and/or review of planning concepts and solutions. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and potential clients. Participate in select marketing and business development opportunities. Provide strategy (leveraging existing connections), thought leadership (technical writing), and storytelling (project approach) during proposal phase to help win work. Actively seek new knowledge in sustainability, decarbonization, renewable energy, and electrical engineering. Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff to develop best practices. Actively participate in industry associations to ensure visibility. Provide guidance to project managers, architects, and project engineers to establish overall project budgets and milestone schedules. Qualifications Minimum Requirements BS in electrical engineering or related field + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including 2 years of leadership Licensed Engineer Preferred Qualifications Sustainability-related professional certifications, such as: LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), Certified Renewable Energy Professional (REP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP) or Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP). Great collaborator and communicator – excellent verbal and written skills are important. Ambitious, self- starter who strives for technical excellence.
