Remote engineering internship opportunity!
System One is seeking a Thermal Hydraulics Engineering Assistant for a short-term contract assignment, supporting a remote work model. In this role, you will assist full time engineers with design and analysis of systems, components, and tests under development for a liquid metal cooled fast reactor. You will work within the Core Thermal Hydraulics team and may interface with engineers from various plant systems and disciplines. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the verification and validation of thermal hydraulic codes, support sensitivity analyses of various core component potentially using CFD, develop python scripts to support core design and other aspect of thermal hydraulic core of the reactor.
Responsibilities
Final assistant responsibilities will be determined based upon project need and candidate's background. Assistant responsibilities will include some (but not all) of the following:
Support core design thermal hydraulic tools. Post-process results and provide uncertainties due to tolerances of hydraulic models. Compare with test data to come up with uncertainties of correlations due to geometry tolerances. Ideal Background Currently in good standing at accredited university with focus on Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering or related engineering discipline. Undergraduate students will be considered. Available to work from May to September. Strong problem-solving skills with experience researching or deriving information from technical publications. Familiarity with Python. Familiarity with Sodium Fast Reactor components is a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week.
