WPEC has an excellent career opportunity for an entry-level Broadcast Engineer to support our daily operations . This position involves maintaining and operating equipment that supports television transmission, video automation systems and computer network systems. The candidate will be directly responsible for hands-on support of broadcast equipment, on-air operations and facilities maintenance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide support in the management of Servers, and Network Services. Provide PC/Mac hardware/software support of on-site installing, servicing, updating, and repairing workstations. Assist with transmitter maintenance. Maintain and repair station broadcast and supporting equipment as needed. Address maintenance and repair requests as required. Operate Master Control systems when required. Respond to issues regarding facilities maintenance to include but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, grounds, etc. Requirements: Associate degree or higher in IT, electronics or computer related field. 1-2 years of related broadcast experience. A great team-oriented attitude and dedication to quality. Strong familiarity with Microsoft, Mac and Linux operating systems. Knowledge of the basics in core hardware and computer system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and LAN/WAN networking. Experience in the installation and configuration of complex High-Definition Video Systems. Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure. Excellent communication skills. Familiarity with Avid related software and hardware products a plus. Military training and experience in communications / broadcast operations a plus. Physical Demands/Work Environment: Must be able to work a flexible schedule. On-call duty, including weekends and holidays. Ability to lift computers and equipment generally less than 50 pounds. Ability to use hand tools safely, work on ladders and or lifts. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to interpret schematic diagrams and blueprints.
