Under general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I serves as the recruitment and employee retention manager for the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) Enforcement Branch. The incumbent oversees and supervises the Enforcement Branch Hiring, Recruitment and Retention Unit and is responsible for developing and administering the Enforcement Branch's recruitment, workforce, succession, and retention plans. The incumbent leads in developing innovative recruitment strategies to attract applicants to DOSH Enforcement; identifying partners, including colleges, associations, and non-profits to attract candidates; identifying and representing Cal/OSHA at outreach forums and events; and consulting with branch managers regarding recruitment needs and strategies.

Working Conditions This position is located at: Cal/OSHA Enforcement Branch HQ  2 MacArthur Place, Suite 710 Santa Ana, CA 92707. 
The incumbent works in an air conditioned office building with natural and artificial lighting and temperature control.  In addition, the incumbent works in an enclosed private office in close proximity to others in a typical office setting. Traveling via private, State vehicle, or public transportation (i.e. automobile, airplane, etc.) including overnight travel is required.
