Under the general direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager I, the Information Technology (IT) Specialist II works as a Security Architect in the Employment Development Department's (EDD) Infrastructure Services Division (ISD), within the Security Management Group (SMG). The incumbent serves as a lead technical specialist in support of the organization's enterprise information technology operations, including all associated hardware/software components and the confidential and sensitive data used at EDD. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and operations of the organization's statewide security systems.

The IT Specialist II performs a wide range of high-level technical tasks requiring innovative problem-solving and undertakes a variety of roles, from subject matter expert in security strategy, to lead specialist in security oversight activities for ongoing projects. The incumbent mentors, trains and supports section staff to ensure adherence to EDD's security standards and methods, and to make certain that projects are completed in a timely manner.

The incumbent acts as an Architect on systems software/hardware projects, and/or on information systems. The incumbent may work independently as a high level architect on more complex system assignments associated with EDD business applications, or may serve as a leader within project teams on infrastructure services and engineering systems projects.

This position is headquartered in Downtown Sacramento and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements

Background Investigation Requirement
