Position: Emergency Room Nurse

Job Summary: The Emergency Room Nurse provides high-quality patient care in the fast-paced environment of the emergency department. This role requires two years of emergency room experience, as well as proficiency in IV insertion and phlebotomy skills. The Emergency Room Nurse must be able to perform conscious sedation procedures and work effectively under pressure to prioritize patient needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assess and triage patients upon arrival to the emergency department, prioritizing care based on severity of condition. Administer emergency medical treatments and interventions according to established protocols and physician orders. Perform IV insertion and phlebotomy procedures accurately and efficiently. Monitor patient vital signs, symptoms, and response to treatment, adjusting care plans as necessary. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure timely interventions. Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. Respond to medical emergencies within the facility and provide assistance as needed. Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. Required Skills and Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Minimum of two years of emergency room nursing experience. Proficiency in IV insertion and phlebotomy skills. Ability to perform conscious sedation procedures. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or Trauma Nursing (TNCC). Experience with electronic medical records systems. Advanced certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
