QUALIFICATIONS: Has a valid Michigan teaching certificate with 5+ years teaching experience preferred Master's degree or higher in educational leadership with Michigan Administration Certificate Prior experience as a school administrator or building principal preferred Knowledge of a variety of instructional models and resources to include: Inquiry-based learning, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt ELA and Math, Math Workshop Knowledge of district assessment, specifically NWEA and Acadience Diagnostic Screeners Preferred trainings and experience in: LETRS, Math Recovery, MTSS, Child Study process, Cognitive Coaching (or other coaching model), and Adaptive Schools Ability to work within budgetary constraints Working knowledge, and/or experience with Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports Working knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, common assessment and staff development Demonstrated knowledge and understanding regarding effective classroom management and program interventions related to improved student academic performance and personal management decision-making for all students Ability to motivate staff to maintain the highest standards of performance for themselves and students Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to build partnerships with families, staff, community and organizations Computer literate with a proven proficiency to use for communication, data interpretation and recovery and public presentations Knowledge and experience with educational technology and effective use for teaching and learning A strong building leader with experience in a diverse student population Commitment to data informed decision-making – including use of Excel documents, data warehouse skills and ability to hold conversations with teachers about student achievement data School improvement and/or strategic planning experience PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for overall personnel, fiscal, and maintenance administration in the building in coordination with members of the district administrative team. Responsible for supervision and performance evaluations of building staff. Lead building staff to implement research-based instructional practices, classroom management strategies, and positive behavior interventions and supports. Promote a positive school climate and develop collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents, parent groups, and community organizations to encourage a growth mindset. Provide leadership in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum, master scheduling, and student supervision to provide an atmosphere of learning, safety, and welfare of students. Implement and supervise student activities and athletics. Assume administrative responsibility for all required records and reports. Follow and implement Board of Education policies and procedures and the District Crisis Plan in compliance with state and federal laws. Lead building staff in administering and interpreting assessments (state and local, NWEA, etc.). Implement and evaluate the basic instructional program, encourage initiative in establishing a climate for improvement and enrichment, and coordinate/lead professional development for building staff. Guide and advise students, teachers, and parents in areas of specific concern and need, and utilize all available resources and data in planning applicable procedures for a solution. Remain current on mandated curriculum expectations and ensure their implementation within the classroom. Determine teaching load and assignment, and assist in recruitment, selection, and placement of building staff. Participate as an active member of the District Leadership Team.
