Under direct supervision of the classroom Teacher, the Associate Teacher responsible for assisting in the implementation of lessons and activities, organizing classroom materials, enforcing school policies, and collection of data. The Associate Teacher is responsible for the continuation of instruction in the Teacher's absence.
Key Responsibilities:
Co-create and execute engaging, rigorous. and developmentally appropriate instruction for scholars Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that will engage students in learning, promote creativity, and foster the development of 21st century skills such as communication and collaboration. Co-plan lessons aligned to Common Core Standards Assume responsibility for leading classroom activities in the teacher's absence Reinforce skills introduced by the teacher and provide instruction to students as prescribed by the teacher; may utilize games, stories or other activities to enhance learning skills. Lead small group instruction Complete assigned paperwork and collect data as directed by the teacher; and prepare materials for class as needed Prepare IEP-related activities for individual students to aid in achieving IEP goals and objectives Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes Serve as a role model in following all school policies and procedures and reinforce compliance with classroom staff; help foster a cooperative classroom environment Engage in professional development sessions and meetings Attend required evening meetings outside the school day including family events and conferences Background and Experience
Associate degree required Bachelor's degree preferred 2+ years experience working with students, preferably in an urban public or charter school Positive attitude and strong work ethic Belief in the power of parent/family relationships Mindset
