POSITION OVERVIEW:Report to Department Manager. Supervise others. Coordinate with multi-disciplinary Engineering and Project Management group as well as support Operations and Maintenance Departments. Uphold corporate values of safety, health, environment, and community. Work with the operation and maintenance departments to plan and schedule activities for both projects and routine work DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Review and make recommendations to improve existing systems and new designs. Facilitate outside contracting services (engineering, general contractor, or other as required); including scope definition, cost estimation, bidding, bid evaluation and award, notifications, contractor mobilization, contractor supervision, document review, inspection, reporting, cost projection and tracking, and project close-out. Facilitate design of new systems, or repair of existing systems; including calculations, sketches, drawings, specifications, material/equipment selection, technical memos, presentations, etc. Create and update Specifications and Data Sheets for Equipment, Materials and Construction Facilitate equipment and system rebuilds; including prepare rebuild specifications, oversee execution, perform inspections, and prepare documentation and reports to ensure that all work complies with specifications. Troubleshoot and test unperforming and/or failed systems to determine root cause and develop an action plan to prevent reoccurrence. Coordinate with operations and maintenance departments to ensure project needs are met. Document activities and organize project files. Update/redline existing drawings to capture modifications to systems. Report on projects and other tasks, both verbal and written. Expedite projects and other assignments to ensure a favorable resolution. Reference existing drawing and document archives. Participate in meetings both on and off-site; which may include attending, presenting, capturing minutes, and occasionally organizing and/or directing the meeting. Work on maintenance plans that are 1 to 4 weeks in the future. Organize and plan the for extended shutdowns on process plants and equipment. Plan for corrective jobs that are in the backlog and preventive/periodic jobs. Minimize the impact of the maintenance tasks on the production schedule. Determining the detailed scope of work, the skills, parts, tools, drawings and other artifacts, durations, and costs required to perform the work safely, effectively, and efficiently. Determine the "What" "How", and "Duration" of each job planned 2-4 weeks ahead and for extended shutdowns on process plants and equipment. Determine the "When" and "Who" for jobs 1 week ahead. Determine when maintenance tasks can be performed safely based on availability of specific individuals or contractors with the required skills, parts, tools, drawings, and equipment availability. Create time-based, performance based and condition-based maintenance plans in SAP. Maintain measuring points for equipment in SAP. Optimize the resources (labor skills/crafts, contractors, parts, tools, drawings, etc) required to perform required maintenance activities. Continuously improve job library which includes creation and modification of task lists, maintenance plans and Bill of Materials in SAP. Continuously improve functional location and equipment hierarchy registry in SAP. Create and update maintenance kits for maintenance tasks. Maintain equipment master data. Coordinate and submit requests for new material masters, new materials to stock. Obtain quotes, create requisitions, monitor approvals / answer questions, monitor POs, delivery times, expediting. Manage work center and planner group back log by planning, executing and closing work orders. Update failure and breakdown codes on notifications after root causes are identified. Fill in for supervisors in each department when needed. Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust be familiar with multiple facets of the hard-rock mining industry; including mobile equipment, material handling, crushing, conveying, grinding, flotation, thickening, filtering, tailings, reclaim water, leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning, acid systems, fresh water, domestic water, waste water, water balance, compressed gases, as well as piping, pumps, tanks, structures, concrete, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and controls. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbal and written. Must be able to communicate effectively with superiors and subordinates. Must exhibit effective time management. Must have valid Driver's License. Must be familiar with reading and interpreting engineering documents such as specifications, drawings, data sheets, etc. Must be proficient with PDF's and MS Office suite (including MS Projects). Previous experience in Root Cause Analysis preferred. Knowledge of maintaining equipment in fixed plant applications. Experience with SAP, AutoCAD, PIPE-FLO, or similar preferred. Previous MSHA and/or OSHA training preferred. Needs skills in SAP , project management, predictive maintenance, equipment repair, and maintenance planning. REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIESFrequently sit, stand, walk on varying terrain, perform manual dexterity, climb/descend ladders and stairs, and work on elevated platforms. Occasionally work in environments with potential exposure to dust, noise, vibration, moisture, as well as extremes in weather and temperature. Operate 4x4 pickup truck on paved and primitive roads Occasionally lift 30-pounds Use personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, safety footwear, and, as needed, hearing protection, gloves, respirator, fall protection, chemical-resistant clothing and other task-specific PPE. REQUIRED EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCEMinimum Bachelor of Science in Engineering from nationally accredited university, in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Metallurgical. Minimum 5-years working experience in heavy industrial construction, operations, and/or maintenance with emphasis on hard rock mining and mineral processing. Minimum 1-year experience in a leadership role such as shift lead, foreman, supervisor, etc. A core value of ASARCO LLC is "Safety First."
