Description
An Electrical Engineer with 7-15 years of experience responsible for performing all aspects of Electrical Engineering on multi-discipline industrial process design projects of small to large scope for facilities that process minerals, fertilizers, pulp and paper, and petrochemicals, among others.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Performing all aspects of electrical engineering design (specifically power distribution) as a Senior or Lead Engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout for industrial process design and site electrical utilities with minimal direction from supervising staff Meeting with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work for industrial process design electrical engineering services Coordinating, supervising, and communicating all aspects of electrical design within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that electrical design details integrate properly with all other disciplines represented on the design team Preparing and supervising the preparation of accurate and complete electrical project programming, schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents Performing and supervising electrical engineering support services during the bidding process, such as preparing addenda, amendments, and responding to RFI's Performing and directing electrical engineering construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI's, reviewing shop drawings and preparing As-built drawings, etc. as directed Provide technical input to the engineering design such as value engineering and industry best practices Working with, responding to, and taking direction from Project Managers and senior management Working independently with limited direction, but collaboratively with other engineers and designers Assisting in developing new and/or revised processes and procedures Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the Project Engineer, Design Manager, Project Managers, principals, and senior management. Project responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Discipline design and documentation of industrial process electrical systems Develop discipline design approach and methodology Conduct project code analysis for review by the discipline Lead Engineer Selection and layout of the building electrical systems, including consideration of alternative systems Preparing accurate, complete, and code-compliant electrical drawings and specifications for schematic, design development, and construction document submittals Develop details of electrical system components Coordinate work product with other disciplines Reviewing calculations and work products produced by electrical engineers and electrical EIT's assigned to the project Reviewing project drawings Preparing scope and fee proposals for the electrical portion of multi-discipline projects or single-discipline, electrical-only projects Development of project proposals, budgets, schedules, and reports Perform discipline QA/QC reviews on assigned projects Respond to RFI's, owner review comments, etc. Back-check discipline QC comments Adhere to project budget and schedule and monitor own performance relative to budget and schedule Potential travel up to 20% Education, Technology, and Experience Electrical Engineer will have 7-15 years of significant design and practice experience with an Industrial firm, Electrical firm, MEP firm, or multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm with substantial knowledge of applicable codes and standards as well as electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting Licensed Professional Engineer in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdiction Graduate of an ABET-accredited 4, 5, or 6-year engineering program in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering Electrical Engineering Technology Active participation in IEEE, IES or other related professional organizations is desirable Specific software includes:
SKM Power Tools or Equivalent Microsoft Office AutoCAD Revit MicroStation BIM Strong experience in the design of power distribution, lighting, communications systems & security systems is desirable Familiarity with MSHA standards and other related industrial process design parameters is highly desired. Design or construction experience in Design/Build and Engineering Procurement Construction project delivery methods is desirable.
