Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Work will include preparing designs, studies, and specifications for medium- to high-voltage facilities including substations, transmission lines, distribution lines, generation (renewable and other), and energy storage systems. Primary customers will be electric utilities, renewable energy developers, and large indu strial customers.The ideal candidate must be self-directed and quality driven with enthusiasm for new challenges and a desire to learn. T ypical tasks will include completing calculations and analyses; developing design details; preparing drawings, specifications, sketches, and cost estimates; selecting equipment; a ssisting with writing proposals and reports; and communicating with clients under the supervision of a registered professional engineer . T he work will occasionally involve short- term travel , usually one week or less in duration .Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with academic coursework focused on power or control systems0 to 5 years of relevant experienceComputer skills and familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, and WordStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skillsAbility and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiativeA flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needsLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePossession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above at a consulting engineering or utility organizationPower distribution , substation, and/or transmission line design experienceUnderstanding of p rotective relaysUnderstanding of short-circuit , loadflow , arc flash, and coordination analysisFamiliarity with power studies using computer software such as SKM or ETAP is a plusW illingness to learn new skillsProven project or task management skillsEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certified (passed Fundamentals of Engineering exam) or ability to obtain within one yearGPA 3.0 or greaterA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Fort Collins or Wheat Ridge, Colorado, offices.Colorado Applicants Only:Compensation:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $63,377-92,622.40/year. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
