Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.

Job Description The purpose of this four year program is to allow current employees who have an interest in pursuing a career in Electrical Maintenance, to obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to become journeymen level electricians. Successful candidates will be expected to complete a combination of online courses and onsite lab work through Great Basin Community College, as well as on the job training.
Job Responsibilities The position is responsible for completing maintenance and training activities in a timely manner. This person will work closely with the Electrician(s) in conducting preventative and corrective maintenance of the buildings, machinery, and equipment. This position requires a highly motivated individual, who is willing to learn and apply acquired skills. Attend classes as required for apprenticeship. Know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and Procedures , and contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives. Ability to communicate clearly. Must be able to follow direction and suggestions of Journeymen. Education and Experience Must be willing to commit to a four year program. Must have a high School diploma or equivalent Must be available to travel to Great Basin Community College one day a month to complete lab work. Must be able to complete a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester. It is essential that the candidate be motivated and very self-disciplined. Candidates who do not maintain the requirements of the program will be terminated from the program.
