The Environmental, Health and Safety Services (EHS) Manager will work with management and plant team members to build and support a strong proactive safety culture and an efficient, effective, and compliant safety and regulatory compliance program. The EHS Manager will ensure that Malarkey Roofing Products facilities in Williamsport, Maryland comply with applicable EHS regulations. This role will also provide communication and general support to the offsite Malarkey Roofing IT department.
Essential Functions include: Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment. Provides effective safety and environmental programs and recommends changes as appropriate. Directs accident investigation programs, develops accident trends, and coordinates programs for improving performance. Creates, reviews, and updates safety and environmental policies and procedures. Facilitates inspections and audits as required to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Manages permits, records, data, and reports according to federal, state, and local laws. Educates, trains, and provides support for new hires and other personnel on safety, health, and environmental programs. Organizes, coordinates or performs annual training. Serves as a primary contact for EHS regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting, reporting and maintains compliance. Assists with implementation and resolution of safety work orders. Manages the hazard assessment process and provides solutions to prevent future hazards. Provides communication between management levels regarding acknowledgment of problem analysis and corrective action Leads incident investigations with parties and administers for both preventative and corrective action plans. Maintains the Environment, Health, and Safety communication board. Prepare statistics and key performance indicators (KPI's) for evaluating progress for the EHS Improvement Plans and department goals. Reviews and maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) on hazardous materials used in the workplace. Develops plant emergency plans and procedures and coordinate practice exercises in preparation for emergency responses. Facilitates Safety Committee, Job Safety Analysis, and Standard Operating Procedure activities. Executes, measures, and monitors the overall safety and environmental performance and identifies opportunities for improvement. Establishes and facilitates an employee safety engagement program and a plant recycling program. Coordinates and performs industrial hygiene testing. Liaise with all Malarkey plants and EHS Team members for best practice sharing and to drive constant evolution of our safety culture. Able to provide light IT hardware support at site. Works with Malarkey IT department to help meet plant needs. Ability to understand current technology and communicate appropriately to external departments Knowledge, Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) field and three to five years of experience is preferred. Familiarity with a variety of EHS concepts, practices, and procedures including knowledge of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Labor (DOL), environmental laws and other EHS laws recommended. Ability to create an environment around EHS that is front of mind, real time and embedded in every day behaviors of our colleagues preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
