Oregon State University Department :EXT Fam/CommHlth OffCmps (HHS) Appointment Type: Classified Staff Job Location: Eugene Recommended Full-Time Salary Range: Job Summary: This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time(0.95 FTE) position Education Program Assistant 1 for the Extension Family and Community Heath department at Oregon State University(OSU).
This is a Limited Duration appointment (1 year) with funding provided from the Food for Lane County (FFLC).

This a part-time (.95 FTE) Education Program Assistant 1 (EPA) position with the Extension Family and Community Health program(affiliated with OSU's College of Health). This position is based at the OSU Extension Lane County office in Eugene,Oregon.
Extension programs in the College of Health align toward a common vision of lifelong health and well-being for individuals,families, and communities. The central purpose of this position is to extend the knowledge and research of OSU to the communities of Oregonin a manner that is responsive to local needs and respectful of local norms and culture. The individual in this position joins a network ofcampus-and community-based Extension faculty and staff who share this responsibility for community engagement. Purpose ofthe Position
The EPA1 position is part of the Extension Family and Community Health program. Extension educators provideevidence-based interventions. Programs are designed to promote healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle. All programming isdone in collaboration with community partners, such as schools, food banks and pantries, and government and non-profit agencies. Funding isprovided through a contract with FOOD For Lane County (FFLC) and in part by USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program(SNAP).
This position will work under the supervision of the FCH/SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member. Programs are implemented in amanner that measures impact, fosters program improvement, and strengthens community connections. This Education Program Assistant embedsthe commitment of the university to a collaborative and inclusive community in all interactions and duties performed and practices awelcoming and respectful workplace environment. 50% Program Implementation/ Teaching Nutrition EducationDelivery: Delivers preapproved non-credit curriculum/programs for managing food resources, making/preparing healthy food choices,encouraging physical activity, plant science/gardening and handling food safely to adults, youth and families in a variety of communitysettings. Uses OSU Extension Service/FFLC approved curricula, materials, and information.
Provides preapproved curriculum andprograms to all populations in an inclusive and culturally responsible manner. Prevention Efforts (Policy, System,Environmental Change): Works with SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member and community partners to identify areas for policy, system, andenvironmental change.
Works as part of a team to conduct nutrition and physical activity needs assessments within thecommunity.
Works as part of a team to implement strategies/interventions in the school/community environment that support andencourage healthy eating habits and physically active lifestyles, such as implementing the Food Hero and Grow This Challenge campaignstrategies.
Actively participates in school and/or community committees/coalitions to encourage healthy eating habits, gardeningactivities and physically active lifestyles, as directed by SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member.
Provides trainings topartners/community with approved curriculums.
Requires travel to provide educational trainings throughout the assignedcounty. 35% - Nutrition Education- Planning, Preparing, and Evaluating Verifies group/class set up and nutritiontopics/lessons with site contact and assists in preparation and ordering of instructional supplies needed for classes. Assembles materialsneeded for classes and other nutrition education activities. Purchases instructional materials using OSU issued departmentcard.
Participates in evaluation of program effectiveness.
Utilizes state SNAP-Ed and FFLC approved materials and approachesto implement nutrition education interventions for youth, adults and/or families, following federal and state SNAP-Ed and OSU ExtensionService guidelines.
Actively engages with faculty, staff and volunteers in the delivery of SNAP-Ed/FFLC interventions/strategies toyouth, adults and families.
Contributes positively to team projects in Family & Community Health and the OSU Extension Service inLane County.
Engages community partners and community members in a culturally responsive manner.
Contributes to equity,inclusion, and diversity as part of educational delivery and programming. Outputs and impacts of efforts to promote equity, inclusion, anddiversity should be included in quarterly/annual program reports. 10% - Nutrition Education ProgramRecords Record-keeping - Maintains class, meeting, and assessment records, attendance records, evaluation data, paperwork; verifiesfor accuracy; submits all required records upon completion of classes, meetings, and assessments for state and federal reporting; submitsquarterly success stories -"Stories from the Field"; reports activities and their impacts into the Extensions reporting system,coordinating with their managing faculty member; processes personal vehicle mileage for work travel, supplies purchased; records otherdata/statistical information/records as requested. 5% - Meetings & Trainings and Other Duties Attends scheduled SNAP-Ed meetings and trainings. Participates in relevant statewide/regional conferences, workshops, meetings andtrainings. Attends County Extension staff meetings and participates in regional/state OSU Extension Service activities, asdirected.

Incumbents arerequired to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, theincumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid drivers license in their state ofresidence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030. What WeWould Like You to Have Bilingual (English and Spanish). Demonstrated ability to engage Spanish-speaking audiences throughthe utilization of bilingual, bi-literate and multi-cultural skills. Two years experience with delivering a curriculum in a youthgroup setting. Experience with SNAP-Ed or program partners (such as DHS, WIC, schools or other agencies).
