Job Description: Tennessee State University Center of Excellence for Learning Sciences invites applications for the position of Education Coordinator . This position travels to Gibson, Weakley and Henry Counties. A valid TN driver license is required. This program is looking for a mature, responsible individual who has experience in leading a child development program, including services to children with special needs, motivating staff and providing training to individuals in order to maintain quality. Knowledge of federal, state, regional and local resources required. Strong leadership skills and the ability to make decisions based on policies and procedures. Must be able to do the following: 1. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; 2. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the basic principles of appropriate early childhood development; 3. Assist teachers in planning, implement, and model activities with children between the ages of 6 weeks and three years, consistent with the curriculum provided; 4. Provide effective training for teaching staff on classroom management, curriculum implementation, and appropriate early childhood practices; 5. Establish and maintain effective, working relationships with staff and the community; 6. Organize, manage, and control work flow; 7. Work with individuals from various ethnic, cultural, Socio-economic status, and educational backgrounds; 8. Identify, assimilate, comprehend, and solve critical elements of various situations (initiate solutions without constant supervision); 9. Must be comfortable with public speaking. The Education Coordinator directly supervises the Education Coaches and is expected to maintain a cooperative attitude with all staff in the role of policy implementation, mentoring, advising, and training. 1. Ensure center-based sites are in compliance with state and federal guidelines as well as meet ITERS , ECERS and NAEYC accreditation material. 2. Develop and provide TTA for Early Head Start staff as needed. Other responsibilities as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards and the programs policies and procedures.
