SUMMARY : To assist in ensuring the public safety of students, staff and property within the Albuquerque Public Schools district. Will monitor school surveillance system; respond to notifications of incidents occurring on school campus which may include criminal activity and maintenance issues where police and/or appropriate police, operations or maintenance personnel may be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
Receive, relay and/or transmit routine and emergency calls to police and other agencies and units as appropriate following established procedures. Coordinates School Police responses with other District departments, law enforcement and agencies. Operates and monitors computer-based, multi-frequency radio system, alarm system and surveillance cameras. Maintains dispatch office records as required following established procedures. Assists Maintenance & Operations after working hours as follows: Processes and relays work order forms. Receives and relays routine and emergency calls. The minimum expectations for this job are as follows:
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Flexibility, organization, multi-tasking, decision-making and problem solving skills. Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone. Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial and legal requirements. Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects. Keyboarding requirement: 35 words per minute minimum. Knowledge of word processing, database, network and spreadsheet software. Ability to operate a two-way radio over multiple channels and a multi-line phone system. Knowledge of criminal and civil law terminology. Dispatch experience preferred. REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE : The minimum requirements for this job are as follows:
High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to obtain Police Radio Dispatcher and National Crime Information Center Operator certification within one (1) year of hire. **All applicants must complete a Keyboard test.
