The Director is responsible and accountable for the performance of assigned departments to produce high quality clinical outcomes, manage resources within budgeted parameters, and to lead a management team to establish and maintain a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration and service excellence. The Director is expected to contribute to strategic and operational planning and to implement and follow through on all planned initiatives to their completion; to role model the highest standards of professional behavior, and to develop productive collaborative relationships with medical staff, ancillary departments, and the senior management team.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Organizational values, mission and strategic goals are clearly understood and demonstrated. Works closely with the President, Vice Presidents, and Directors to make strategic decisions regarding future directions of the organization. Regularly communicates, and demonstrates through actions, the norms, values and vision of the organization to managers and staff to maintain focus and direction. Demonstrates broad knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory, and administrative requirements relative to departmental operations/accreditation and accountable for the department's compliance with the same Services are provided effectively and efficiently, and established resources are managed to optimize Legacy, operating unit, and departmental goals. Works with managers to carry out comprehensive planning for areas of responsibility. Oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of practices, policies, and procedures in all functional areas of the assigned departments. Develops and regularly updates long-range plans for capital expenditures, staffing, staff development and productivity improvements. Ensures that managers are provided with necessary information to make decisions regarding operations. Communicates clear expectations of results; gives authority and accountability for operational decisions to managers for achievement of results. Provides leadership and assistance to managers when faced with decisions regarding complex problems and issues. Works collaboratively with other directors to resolve operating issues that cross departmental boundaries. Monitors/reports/corrects discrepancies in operational/management/financial goals. Maintains knowledge of clinical practices and benchmarks to best practices. Improves clinical practice through application of critical thinking to address patient care issues. The expectations of all customers are understood and exceeded through the provision of quality service. Assures the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical standards of care, practice, and performance. Responsible for establishing/monitoring/improving quality planning and monitoring in all service areas. Responsible for providing customer feedback regarding program to interested constituencies. Identifies and addresses issues in transitioning patients and families to other care providers in the continuum. Business is designed and developed in conjunction with Legacy Health System's mission to meet current and future customer needs. Participates in corporate strategic planning as it relates to areas of responsibility and serves as a resource to other Legacy affiliates. Exhibits and promotes a team approach to program development, involving appropriate individuals both within and outside areas of responsibility. Identifies, evaluates, and responds to clinical trends and events as appropriate. Work environment of departments reflects a positive atmosphere, high employee satisfaction and competence, and strong evidence of teamwork. Utilizes system/program internal surveys to determine job satisfaction, management feedback from staff. Develops/implements/monitors program wide activities/services that increase satisfaction and competence of employee programs. SKILLS Demonstrated ability to manage people in setting goals, giving appropriate support, evaluating, directing, and holding employees accountable while maintaining high morale and productivity. Ability to communicate plans and directions effectively both verbally and in writing and to facilitate and present data in front of large groups. Must have a thorough understanding of current developments and trends in healthcare management and areas of defined accountability. Knowledge of health care issues, demographics, financing, and policy changes.
Leadership ability to work throughout the system to accomplish the objectives of the organization. Organizational skills both to function independently and to work closely with other professionals using a team approach.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: An academic degree in nursing is required (BSN or MSN/MN); master's degree (MSN/MN preferred) or higher required.
Experience: Minimum eight years progressively responsible professional and/or managerial experience within a health care environment. Demonstrated proficiency in working with physician partnerships.
Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability to manage people in setting goals, giving appropriate support, evaluating, directing, and holding employees accountable while maintaining high morale and productivity. Ability to communicate written and oral ideas, plans and directions effectively and facilitate and present data in front of large groups. Must have a thorough understanding of current developments and trends in healthcare management and areas of defined accountability
