Class Summary Job Description
The Department of Water Resources Division Director of Infrastructure Support leads a team of over 20 team members and is responsible for managing staff, projects, and budgets within two Sections.



Development Section – The development section supports the evaluation and acceptance of new water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure installed to support development and comply with County Standards. Services include:

As-built review Evaluation of water and sewer availability and capacity Compliance with Gwinnett County water, sewer, and stormwater standards for new development and redevelopment Evaluation of overall water and sewer system impact and long-term planning for growth D ata management section -The data management section is responsible for keeping the County's infrastructure accurately mapped and linked to vital records. Section services include: GIS Lucity FileNet Custom maps Stormwater impervious surface and BMP tracking Stormwater billing The position responds to inquiries from residents, the development community, and other agencies which may require immediate attention and reporting to the Director and Assistant Director.


The ideal candidate will have excellent technical, management, communication, written, and interpersonal skills.


This position is a Grade 206.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field. Nine years of progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment, including two years' experience as a manager; Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as listed above. Preferred Qualifications: Fifteen (15) years of experience to include a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering, development, design, and/or GIS and data management experience. The County Administrator and County Attorney are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve at its pleasure. To implement the Board's policy directives, the County Administrator uses a management team consisting of members of his immediate staff and 14 department directors. The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County's values.


In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
