Title:Director, User Experience
Location: Chicago, Remote
Role Description: Oak Street Health seeks a visionary, hands-on Director of User Experience to lead our end-user technology stack and enhance the end-user experience. As a leader, you'll be crucial in shaping the end-user strategy, efficiently utilizing the workstations and tools, and ensuring they meet the highest usability and design standards.
Map the end-to-end Oak Street Health end-user journey and identify pain points and opportunities to optimize and reduce friction, employ best practices, and create new experiences that delight our end users.
Core Responsibilities: Initial focus
Develop a deep understanding of our users and apply this empathy in a compelling and cohesive overarching User Experience strategy
Set clear and inspiring User Experience goals, metrics, and KPIs to measure the success of our end-user products and make tough investment trade-offs about where to push for an excellent experience and ensure sufficiency
Foster a culture of performance and continuous improvement
Ensure all design work aligns with our company design strategy, industry best practices, accessibility standards, and user feedback
Ongoing responsibilities
Influence change and business decisions through partnerships with others and using collaborative design, service design, informal and formal testing, and rapid prototyping
Work with technology managers and architects to develop realistic end-user product plans that properly prioritize, scope, and plan for end-user design and testing at all phases of the product development lifecycle
Understand market needs and vision with technology managers, IT, and various business functions; work with teams to quickly translate that vision into workflows, interactions, and designs for development and creativity.
Participate in and lead team discussions relative to current user experience projects. Feel comfortable independently working on design sprints, requirements definition sessions, design thinking workshops and accurately scoping and designing work
Work directly with users to understand business and technical needs, goals, work processes, and outcomes
Other duties as assigned
What are we looking for? Bachelor's Degree; or equivalent work experience
Advanced degree preferred
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in user experience design
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in people management
Proven ability to identify new project opportunities based on design thinking principles and prior outcomes
Proven experience as an end-user computing leader or similar leadership roles in the HealthCare, Technology, Retail, or similar industries
Strong understanding of user-centered principles and methodologies
Excellent leadership, team management, collaboration, and communication skills
End-user/customer-centric mindset, applying research and data-driven approach to create intuitive, easy-to-use, and practical solutions
Experience working in an Agile development environment
Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and results-driven mindset
US work authorization
