Organizational Unit Overview: The Brody School of Medicine Office of Student Success and Wellness (OSSaW) provides support for the rigorous academic requirements of graduate school and medical school but, more importantly, for the "whole" Brody learner. Our mission is to deliver personalized, proactive, and holistic support that empowers and inspires each learner to reach academic, personal, and professional goals and to flourish at Brody and beyond.
Job Duties : Brody School of Medicine's Office of Student Success and Wellness is seeking a full-time Director of Student Success. Duties of the position will include the following: Leadership and Management Duties = 60%
Perform administrative and management functions involving independent exercise of judgment and discretion, serve as the unit's primary 'problem-solver.'Provide leadership and operational support to team members to create and implement strategies designed to meet unit, divisional and institutional goals.Establish and monitor processes, procedures and activities for unit operations as well as research, analyze, and implement best practices for operations.
Supervise and manage administrative staff who are responsible for the day-to-day management or coordination of budgets, programs or other administrative support functions.Supervise and manage student workers, part-time workers, and temporary workers.Oversee planning and provide oversight for onboarding procedures for new team members Policy and Program Management/Development = 30%
Provide back up assistance in the management and administration of academic support programs, projects and initiatives. This may involves assisting in the management and administration of events from initial concept, soliciting speakers and participants, program creation or registration, promotional material, recruitment of participants, and post-event assessment. This may also include identifying content and delivering information for programs.Track and analyze program data to identify trends for academic support programs and initiatives and generate periodic reports for stakeholder groups.Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness.Oversee development and maintenance of office web pages, informational materials, and other forms of office media/marketing related to program outreach and communications.Develop proposals and reports for policy, programs, and other initiatives that align with unit, division, and institutional goals.Serve on relevant committees to advance office, division, and institutional goals. Additional Duties = 10 % Other duties and special assignments as outlined by the Assistant Dean of Student Development and Academic Counseling Anticipated start date – 12/1/23 Contingent upon availability of funds Minimum Education/Experience : A Master's Degree in Administration, Education, Leadership, Management or relevant field and 5 years of relevant experience including 1 year of supervisory experience.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation : none Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education : -Experience with program support of graduate students or students in professional schools.
-Self-motivated with strong written, oral communication, leadership and problem solving skills.
-Skills in overseeing and managing programming.
-Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and produce high quality and professional work products.
-Ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advanced planning and the ability to work at a fast pace. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, stakeholders and team members in a way that motivates and fosters teamwork, collaboration, mutual respect and inclusion.
-Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, recommend best options, and implement approved solution(s) in support of unit, divisional or institutional goals
-Considerable knowledge of appropriate procedures for recruiting, developing, and retaining team talent as well as applying supervisory practices and skill in supervising others.
-Exceptional computer, organizational, data entry and project management skills, including demonstrated skills in Microsoft software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as survey software such as Qualtrics and REDCap are a plus.
