The Radiology Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an experienced candidate who will be appointed as the Director of Research, directly reporting to the Vice Chair of Research. As such, this individual will act in alignment with the Vice Chair's priorities and interests and the mission and vision of the Department of Radiology. The Department supports basic research in Radiology that is inherently interdisciplinary and technologically oriented. Development of new imaging technologies for application to translational research and clinical radiology is an important component of the research program.
The successful applicant must hold an MD-PhD, a PhD, or foreign equivalent, and be accomplished in the area of Radiology basic research, with a track record of extramural funding, high-impact publications, grant writing experience, and established leadership skills.  Successful mentoring of junior clinical and research faculty in addition to trainees is necessary. Abundant and compelling resources include a cyclotron, whole body PET/CT and PET/MRI, 3 Tesla MRI, 3D modeling and printing, magnetoencephalography (MEG), small animal imaging, spectral-detector computed tomography, high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), image processing and research PACS, and ongoing artificial intelligence and Deep Machine Learning, including access to high-performance computing facilities.
