PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, update, and operationalize UW Medical Center Security strategic plan for safety and security, workplace violence prevention, and physical security systems supporting UW Medicine public safety and security system strategy and objectivesKey partner with care teams and overseeing Parking management and Department of Public Safety business office services, including staff photo ID, key control and electronic access, lost & found, and general customer serviceLead UW Medical Center's Workplace Violence Prevention (WPV) program; oversee the Security Management Plan; assess and make changes to improve annual WPV worksite analysis; risk assessments for physical security, WPV, and security programsEnsure departmental compliance with regulatory requirements and law such as Joint Commission (TJC), Department of Health (DOH), and WA State RCWs. Is a liaison and representative for UW Medical Center with public and private agencies such as the UW Police Department, King County Sheriff/Jail, DOD, and Seattle Police DepartmentMonitor, manage, and control assigned budgetsEnsure that physical security systems such as access control and surveillance systems support Security Service purposes and response strategies; oversee processes and controls for conducting background checksFacilitate training of staff to ensure safety of staff, patients, families, and visitors; coach and develop staff to achieve a high level of competency and customer service REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree relevant to service area with 9 years of experience in Security Services/Public Safety leadership role in a healthcare environment.
Advanced training or experience with technical elements including physical security systems; security dispatch operations; security protocols and training; and team supervision.
Demonstrated leadership in advancing best practices in a healthcare environment.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
