POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direction of Executive Leadership, the Director of K-12 Schools provides oversight to elementary, middle, high schools, and operations. This position provides organizational and operational leadership for building administrators, school leaders, students, staff, and community stakeholders. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training, Experience, Licensure and Certification License and evidence of insurability  Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance Master's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in an education discipline, preferably in school administration Oregon Administrative License or qualifications to receive one required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years of experience as building principal SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE: Director of K12 Schools is a strong leader with high ethical standards who focuses on developing extraordinary school leaders and programs, understands and models cultural competence, and is a highly skilled communicator who creates connections with staff, students, families and community partners. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Providing operational leadership using articulated and measurable standards; advancing the district's vision for supervision and support for professional administrators in site management; ensuring a positive climate for staff that values shared decision making, and fosters innovation, collegiality, and ethical leadership; supporting and implementing the District's Equity Policy. Collaborating with the Directors of Teaching and Learning in strengthening the instructional practices of professional educators; ensuring a culture of high expectation for students which provides equitable access to high quality and culturally relevant instruction; establishing and monitoring site-based implementation of the operational and instructional vision and focused plans for improving student achievement while narrowing the disparities between the highest and lowest performing students. Supervising and onboarding administrators: As a component of the position, the Director of K-12 Schools facilitates regular meetings with administrators to effectively support them into the District. In this role, support is provided in the use of the evaluation system, timelines, and essential forms related to evaluation, district wide systems, and the regular challenges of leading a building. Investigations: works closely with the Human Resources Department and supports building principals and assistant principals in the complaint process and staff investigations. This includes providing support with contractual language, organizing and structuring investigations, and the completion of summary documents related to the complaint process. Facilities Management: supervises the facilities department. In this role the Director will oversee the leadership of facilities staff, capital improvement projects, and the daily operations of District properties. The Director of K-12 schools will work with facilities staff and community members who seek to rent District properties for activities. The Director will work to minimize risks throughout District properties while working with PACE Insurance providers and collaboratively working with other district and building level leaders. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to: Sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time Talk and hear conversations Use precise control of fingers and hand movement, often in a repetitive movement such as keyboarding Reach for and handle objects Use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus  Regularly focus on a computer screen Bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 15-45 pounds may also be required on occasion WORKPLACE EXPECTATIONS: Maintaining regular and punctual attendance.  In case of an absence site and/or district protocol for reporting absences is followed Maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding information relating to students, staff, and district operations  Dress in a professional and appropriate manner for the assignment and the work setting Exercising prudent judgment Work independently in the performance of routine duties Follow all District policies and work procedures Utilize the District's electronics systems and applications only for purposes related to the position  Participate in required meetings and trainings related to the position Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment Note: This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, efforts, functions or working conditions associated with the job.
