Professional Job Description: The Director of Education for Veterinary Technology will guide development and oversee administration of degree programs in veterinary technology. This position will also ensure program development in alignment with accreditation standards. Once program development and accreditation are complete, the director will be expected to hold an adjunct appointment to instruct veterinary technician students and other personnel in veterinary technician skills, behaviors, and medical knowledge.
65% Develop and oversee administration of degree programs in veterinary technology, including monitoring of program effectiveness. Ensure program alignment with accreditation standards and serve as primary point of contact for accrediting body. Create and submit program reports to accrediting body, LSU SVM, LSU Office of Academic Affairs/Institutional Effectiveness, and other reporting agencies. Align programmatic changes based upon best practices, formative, and summative feedback.
30% Oversee instructors and staff within the veterinary technician program and oversee admission of veterinary technology students. Collaborate with other staff to ensure effective curriculum delivery. Create and provide educational content, lecture or other resource material for students in the curriculum.
5% Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology or related field with seven years of experience
Specific experience: Clinical practice, teaching, and leadership or program management experience.
Minimum Certifications: Registered Veterinary Technician in Louisiana
Preferred Qualifications: DVM with more than 7 years of experience

Special or Physical Qualifications: Minor Contact - This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. Finger printing and National Sex Offender Registry check required per FASOP HR-04.
Required to be capable of lifting more than 50 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, able to reach above and below the shoulder, vision (near sight), vision (far sight), kneel or sit on the floor, push/pulling, grasping, climbing, crawling bending, squatting, and/or twisting.
