Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY : This is a full-time Faculty member that provides program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge online technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses and supporting department activity in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) Programs.
This is a 12-month faculty position with 50% release for administration of the program.
Other responsibilities outlined in the current Faculty Supplemental Manual, including scholarship, service, advising, and committee work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Field Education Oversight: Develop, implement, and oversee field education programs for BSW students, ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives and accreditation standards. Establish and maintain partnerships with social service agencies and organizations to secure diverse and meaningful field placements for students. Provide ongoing support, supervision, and evaluation to students and field instructors throughout their field education experiences. Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate field education with classroom learning and address emerging trends and needs in social work practice. Administrative Faculty Support: Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of faculty members for the BSW program. Coordinate faculty schedules, assignments, and professional development opportunities. Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and review processes to ensure program effectiveness and compliance with accreditation standards. Serve as a liaison between faculty, students, and administration to facilitate communication and address issues as they arise. Leadership and Collaboration: Provide leadership and vision for the BSW program, contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and enhance the overall educational experience for students. Represent the BSW program at internal and external events, conferences, and meetings to promote the program and build relationships within the community. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES : Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds in higher education Knowledge of and experience with social justice activities to enhance already established program focus. Demonstrated ability to model social work professional values and ethics, and to work effectively with colleagues Evidence of effective provision of both clinical and non-clinical content in the areas of individuals, families and groups; and/or, Evidence of effective community and organizational engagement Strong communication, time management and organizational skills Demonstrated teamwork, self-motivation, integrity, and commitment to maintaining high professional standards. Ability to sit for extended periods of time and perform computer tasks such as typing, reading and entering data. Emotional resilience and empathy to support students and address challenging situations Adaptability and flexibility to respond to changing circumstances and meet the evolving needs of the BSW program. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES : Knowledgeable and experienced with CSWE-accreditation Proficiency in LMS and MS Office software POSITION QUALIFICATIONS : Education: Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited institution is required. A Doctorate degree in Social Work (Ph.D. or DSW) is preferred. LCSW or license-eligible in State of residence is preferred. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of post-MSW practice experience is required. Five years of teaching experience in higher education in social work or related fields, preferably in an online modality is preferred. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The noise level in the work environment is usually quite to moderately noisy while in the office. The office temperature is about 70 degrees.
DECISION MAKING: The position is governed by the policies of Pacific Oaks, along with established procedures for the department. Independent judgment is required in the carrying out of the College and department's strategic goals and budget management.
CONTACT RESPONSIBILITIES: Routine exchange or presentation of information.
Responsible for demonstrating professionalism and leadership in resolving conflicts with students and other colleagues. Recommends alternative approaches to solve problems and conflicts.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not require the management of budgets, but it is required to follow Pacific Oaks policies for purchasing and budget approvals.
Compensation & Benefits This opportunity is budgeted at $66,560.00-73,170.00 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
