Your Impact
As the Director of Manufacturing Engineering with an Automation focus, you will play a pivotal role in working with other manufacturing engineering teams to optimize our automated manufacturing operations for safety, quality, yield, and output. You will lead three teams of skilled engineers & technicians. Your teams will implement automation solutions, develop, refine and control processes in high-volume automation and support Axon's MES and CMMS systems. You will report to the Senior Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
What You'll Do
Location: Scottsdale, AZ and Phoenix, AZ (multiple facilities)
Reports to: Sr. Director, Automation Engineering
Develop and implement the strategic vision for manufacturing engineering with a focus on automation and asset reliability
Identify opportunities for automation improvements and cost reduction
Maintain OEE targets for high-volume manufacturing automation lines across multiple facilities
Build an industry-leading automation technician group
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of automated systems and equipment with internal Axon resources and external vendors
Establish and oversee programs to enhance asset reliability, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime
Implement predictive maintenance strategies to proactively address equipment issues
Maintain and manage Axon's MES and CMMS, using data from both systems to monitor line effectiveness and identify areas for further optimization
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of 10 years managing manufacturing engineering, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing and motivating multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Familiar with automation technologies, including but not limited to robotic platforms (SCARA & 6DOF), PLCs, sensors, conveyance, and measurement methods employed in high-volume automation
Proficiency using structured problem solving methodologies
In-depth knowledge of industry best practices, standards, and regulations related to manufacturing and automation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 119,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 213,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 175,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 313,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
