The Director of Accessibility & Counseling Services plays a pivotal role in providing leadership, supervision, planning, and coordination for Disability Support & Counseling services
The primary objective is to offer accommodations and support services to disabled and underrepresented student populations, with a focus on enhancing retention and graduation rates
This position operates within the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, working to diminish educational barriers and foster a sense of belonging and inclusiveness
The Director will oversee programming that focuses on student retention/completion and Disability Support services

Apply today to join the Gateway Family! RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Administration: Provide leadership, strategic planning, and day-to-day administration of accessibility and counseling services to eliminate barriers hindering student success

Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to enhance campus climate, retention, and student success

Accommodations and Collaborative Processes: Build collaborative partnerships with college staff, especially in the Learning Success Division and Student Affairs, to provide counseling and disability support services

Facilitate the interactive process, collaborating with students, instructors, and staff to determine reasonable accommodations in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act

Consult with various stakeholders to coordinate counseling care for Gateway students

Consult with faculty, instructional staff, and college stakeholders to advise on reasonable accommodations based on established policies, laws, and best practices

Champion the student experience by advancing mental health services, medical resources supporting student success, and disability support services

Training Programs: Develop, deliver, and promote training programs and resources for diverse stakeholder groups to disseminate accurate information and provide guidance on disability services and counseling

Grant Management: Oversee grant programming targeting mental health services for student retention/completion

Manage and complete grant activities and reporting for students with disabilities and counseling services
Seek and maintain grant funding sources supporting student services

Individual Therapy and Crisis Intervention: Provide solution-focused and short-term individual therapy for students

Conduct supportive counseling, assessments, and crisis intervention

Serve as a key member of Gateway's CARE Team, participating in the behavioral intervention process

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE POSITION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Counseling, Disability Services, or Vocational Rehabilitation or related counseling degree, including credited practicum/internship

PLUS Current certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker Five (5) years of recent successful experience working effectively with students populations and staff representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and academic abilities Strong knowledge of American with Disabilities Act, Demonstrated program development and management experience

Demonstrated experience with federal or state grant-funded programs

Demonstrated team-oriented thinking as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
