POSITION SUMMARY Troubleshoot die cast dies that are not functioning as designed. Make minor corrections to cores/dies that are not making a part to print (replacing cores, date codes or ejector pins, etc.). Disassemble and assemble casting dies, performing routine and preventative scheduled maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Proficient in assembling a casting die Proficient in reading prints (product drawings, die cast and trim die prints) Troubleshoot dies that are not working. Capable of using AutoVue to view designs. Capable of creating maintenance work requisitions for repairs to Die Maintenance Equipment, die related issues such as hydraulic cylinder fixes, electrical work, etc. When warranted, must be willing and capable of making repairs to a die while it is on die cast machine. Capable of final fitting slides and slide locks. Proficient in operating ejector pin grinder Proficient in operating hydraulic cavity extraction equipment. (Enerpac) Proficient in operating hydraulic power unit used for final inspection of hydraulic cylinder set-ups. Basic understanding of hydraulic cylinders. Proficient in setting limit switches. Must be able to obtain forklift license. Capable and willing to train others within the department Maintain clean and organized work environment.
Performs other related duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS Heavy manufacturing work environment with exposure to heat and noise.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical exertion required with occasional lifting of up to 70 pounds. Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend and move about the facility.
QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer minimum of 3 years' experience in die cast or an equivalent trade. Knowledgeable of die casting and how a casting die operates. Other key characteristics: Ability to read blueprints, mechanically inclined, self-motivated, good communication skills and a team player.
