There are hundreds of opportunities to make your mark on technology and life at American Express.This role within American Express Technology (AET) will report into the VP of Cloud Solutions Engineering being responsible for and enabling the migration journey of applications and services to private, public, and hybrid cloudAs a DevOPS Observability Engineer you will be responsible for architecting and implementing large scale, high efficiency infrastructure in support of Enterprise Observability.  You will be part of a team that builds, manages, tests, and monitors all aspects of the Enterprise Logging Framework.  We are looking for an outstanding technologist who has both strong infrastructure and networking chops and leadership capabilities; we hope you're ready to step up to the plate. Minimum Qualifications:What you will Bring:•    Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience•    6+ years of progressive experience demonstrating strong architecture, programming and engineering skills.•    Demonstrated ability to lead, partner, and collaborate cross functionally across many engineering organizations•    Extensive experience with all aspects of system administration•    Experience in ITSM and hardware and software lifecycle management•    Superior troubleshooting skills•    Knowledge of ElasticSearch, concepts, technologies, configuration, performance tuning•    Deep familiarity with networking concepts and technologies TCP/UDP/VLANs/VxLANs/FW tech/Proxies•    Knowledge and/or experience with containerized environments, Kubernetes, docker.•    Experience working in DEVOPS•    Appetite for trying new things and building rapid POCsPreferred Qualifications:•    Knowledge of Observability concepts like Tracing, Metrics, Monitoring, Logging•    Knowledge of Prometheus•    Experience with large scale installations of Elasticsearch•    Knowledge of OpenTelemetry / OpenTracing•    Knowledge of Kafka•    Knowledge of observability tools like Jaeger, Kibana, Grafana etc.•    Open-source community involvementAs part of our diverse tech team, you can architect, code and ship software that makes us an essential part of our customers' digital lives.
