314 Action is the largest organization in the United States working to elect Democratic scientists to office at all levels of government, from the Senate down to local school boards.
Into the rest of 2024 and beyond we are looking for a Development Associate to help us as the organization expands 314 Action's nationwide fundraising network and grows our donor base. The ideal candidate would have 1-2 years of political fundraising experience or leadership experience in the development and fundraising space of a political organization, or 1-2 years of experience in major gifts fundraising at an institution . The Development Associate will report to the National Development Director and will work with other members of our organization leadership staff including the President.
The Development Associate will work with the National Development Director and department staff focused on major donor outreach to manage day-to-day operations of the following aspects of the Development program –call time program, national travel outreach and coordination, database management, major donor stewardship. The Development Associate will also help the organization co-manage intern and fellow program. Responsibilities Include Manage the call time program: including strategic oversight calls in call time rotation; engaging in prospecting research; scheduling phone calls and callbacks; preparing call sheets for the President and updating call results Execute the call time follow up process including email, phone calls, and text message outreach Work with Development Director and department staff to conduct independent direct solicitation of mid-level donors through calls and event outreach Work with Development Director and department staff on event programming and tracker management for organization led events, donor hosted fundraisers, and candidate events Create memos for scheduled calls, meetings, and donor briefings for major donor stewardship Compile call report, call time performance report and other fundraising reports on daily and weekly basis Continually update and correct database records Help identify new prospects for organization and work with department staff to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation tactics to reach them Manage the acknowledgment program -- letters and other correspondence to donors and prospects Work with other associates to co-manage organization interns and fellows Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications Self-starter with 1-2 years of political / campaign / electoral or nonprofit experience Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs (Canva additional plus) Proficiency in NGP, Actblue Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to work in a fast-paced atmosphere with extreme attention to detail An entrepreneurial spirit Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment Hard working and highly organized Benefits (upon meeting eligibility criteria): 100% employer paid premiums for platinum health insurance and 99% employer paid premiums for dental and vision. 401k Retirement Plan with up to 6% employer matching $500 Quarterly Tech Stipend $100 Monthly Transit Benefit for eligible employees located in DC.
