Overview
The primary role of the Development Associate is to assist the Director of Development and the Development department at the Nuclear Museum with various administrative, membership, facility rental, and grant writing duties,
These duties include but are not limited to data entry and management, record maintenance, and member/donor correspondence, oversight, and recognition. This position will assist in other development program efforts such as mailings and clerical support, as needed, and they will provide direct customer service to member and donor prospects.
The Development Associate will attend outreach events representing the museum as a means of member recruitment and facility rental promotions. Occasional evening and weekend events and rental attendance will be required. This position will also help procure items for the museum's annual Gala and Silent Auction and will assist the Event and Facilities Rental Coordinator with rental management.
The Development Associate will assist the Director of Development with grant writing and sponsorships to support the museum. This position will research, develop, write, and submit proposals, letters, reports, and other materials necessary to secure grant support from private foundations and government funding sources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Import member and donor information into the database Ensure the maintenance of clean data and up-to-date records Work with the Director of Finance and Director of Development to ensure accurate record-keeping Provide email and phone correspondence with members and donors Assist the Event and Facility Rental Coordinator with rental management Attend all Museum member and public events Investigate and identify prospective funding sources through colleagues, directories, periodicals, and internet research. Write letters of inquiry and solicitation for funding and draft compelling grant proposal narratives for general operating and restricted project grants. Assist the Director of Development with the management of grant and sponsorship activity, reporting, and management Position Requirements: Demonstrated organizational skills Advanced writing skills Strong communication skills Research skills Meets frequent and revolving deadlines Ability to meet high expectations and take pride in their work Desired Attributes: College Degree preferred Grant writing experience Experience working in a result-oriented environment Data software management experience Deadline and detailed oriented Reports to: Director of Development
Basic Work Week: The position is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position with 40 hours/week. Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision after 90 days, Matching 401K after six months. Paid sick leave, vacation, and seven paid holidays. Pay starting at $36,000.
