Job Summary: ATP is transforming the finance, human resources, and research administration support environment across the UW-System, including the selection and implementation of a new Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system (Workday) to support the changes. The activities will include the review and redesign of business processes (including use of shadow and bolt-on IT systems), redesign of the chart of accounts, and integration of efforts with several ongoing University and UW System projects. As part of this effort and in preparation for a new ERP, the University is assembling functional Design Teams in the areas of finance, research administration and human resources. Design Teams will be responsible for proposing standardized future roles and processes which will be validated by stakeholders and approved by ATP leadership and/or Governance.
ATP is hiring a design team member, reporting to finance, collaborating with both the finance and HR teams. This individual will be/become the subject matter expert on the linkages between HR payroll and the related financial transactions. The person in this role will advise on the payroll and payroll accounting business process designs and configuration of payroll related data in Workday. The person in this role will also be well positioned to consult and advise on the design of the Adaptive Planning Budget & Forecast System.
The Design Team Member is responsible for the review of business processes and system, campus, divisional and departmental operational needs and designing refined business processes for the future state ERP. The Design Team Member will collaborate with the HR and Finance Design Team Leads, HR and Finance Strategy Leads, System Implementation Partners, Workday team and ATP program teams to develop business processes, security, and related reporting.
The Design Team Member will participate in all meetings necessary to develop the skill set to understand the linkages between HR and finance in Workday. This role will likely participate in HR, Finance and Adaptive Team meetings and design sessions. This role will likely be included in report development for both payroll and finance reports. This role will also develop the skill set to understand security roles for both the HR and finance areas around payroll. The Design Team Member will report to the Design Team Lead.
Responsibilities: Consults with stakeholders throughout the institution in support of addressing priorities and solves complex problems while ensuring alignment with institutional goals. 20% Provides consultation, advice, and expertise to stakeholders to identify and solve problems 10% Coaches and advises leaders on building organizational capacity and navigating change management 20% Conducts gap analyses and develops approaches, strategies, and structures for achieving desired outcomes 10% Designs and delivers meetings, retreats, and other engagements to assist clients in aligning organizational goals and resources 20% Conducts analysis in support of projects and requests, utilizing independent judgment in selecting information for developing models for consideration 20% Actively contribute to and participate in Design Team activities Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Qualifications: Required:
1. Experience collaborating with stakeholders to improve business processes.
2. Minimum 3 years experience in an HR, Payroll, or Finance role.
3. Experience in analysis, design, and/or implementation of HR and/or financial business processes.
4. Experience defining functional business requirements.
Preferred:
1. Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
2. Experience working with HR related policy and procedures.
3. Experience working in the UW-System in a payroll or finance related role.
4. Experience working in Workday Financials or another ERP system.
5. Experience on an ERP implementation, Workday or other system.
6. General knowledge of payroll accounting, financial reporting, payroll reporting and/or compliance requirements.
Work Type: Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%
It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration: Terminal, 20 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary: Negotiable
ANNUAL (12 months)
Well qualified applicants can expect to earn between $85,000 - $140,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.
