Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking a full-time Department Manager. Department Managers are responsible for supporting all aspects of the retail operation while providing specific oversight of a specialized department.Responsibilitiesacting as an expert in their designated area, taking ownership for merchandising, production results, quality control, and overall operation of the area (specific departments include - Sales Floor, Back Room, and Wares Processing)supporting goals for financial results, including sales growth and increased average salescompleting required reporting; supporting the inventory processunderstanding all store functions (sales, donations, textiles, and wares)operating as manager on dutyacting as a leader in safety through following procedurestraining and providing day to day assistance to associates and providing feedback to the Store Managerhelping to manage overall flow and inventory of donated, new, and seasonal goodsmerchandising store effectively through displays, timely features, and end capspromoting exceptional internal and external customer service through effective communicationmaintaining a responsive and respectful demeanor with others within the organizationdemonstrating a regard for Goodwill assetsliving Goodwill valuesother duties as assignedQualificationsThe Department Manager must have:a High School degree (or its equivalent), but an Associate's or higher is preferreda minimum of 3 years of retail or other relevant experiencethe ability to lift 40 pounds (and occasionally up to 80 pounds)the ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for long periods of timeability to work in a retail and warehouse/backroom settingIn addition, the ideal candidate has:familiarity with retail concepts, practices, and proceduresthe ability to provide oversight to employees (supervisory experience is preferred)the ability to effectively communicate with customersthe ability to set and achieve goals through prioritization and organization of tasksa sense of urgency to address customer needshigh ethical practices and exceptional decision making skillsability to follow instructions and work independently; the ability to follow all safety rulesa proficiency in computer skills including internet operations and Microsoft Word, Excel; and OutlookAdditional informationThis is a full-time opportunity with benefits, including:health insurancevision insurancedental insurancebasic life insurance401(k) options (retirement savings)vacation day accrual and PTOpaid holidaystuition reimbursementPlease look for a survey in your email upon submitting your application*
