Job DescriptionThe Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech seeks a strategic leader, established scientist, and accomplished educator to serve as its Department Head. The Department Head will serve on the College Executive Board and be responsible for all aspects of the department's academic mission in research, instruction, outreach, and clinical diagnostics. This involves supervision of faculty and staff and administrative responsibilities for planning, fiscal management and communication. The Department Head is a full-time, twelve-month administrative leadership position that reports directly to the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine.Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to provide creative leadership for faculty development in areas of teaching, research, and diagnostic services. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to effectively represent and promote the Department and its faculty, as well as participate in teaching, research, and/or diagnostic services. Other important duties include leadership of staff employees and resource management.
