Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.

Job Description Kinross is looking for a full-time Database Administrator to join the Nevada brownfields exploration and mine site teams, assisting with projects at both Round Mountain and Bald Mountain sites. Reporting to the Round Mountain Senior Resource Geologist, you will play a key role discovering and delineating resources in Northern Nevada, by managing diverse data sets and improving existing databases to tackle a variety of projects from early to advanced stages, with the ultimate goal of delivering ounces to sustain long-term production at two operations that provide high-quality, high-paying jobs to Northern Nevada. This is an ideal role for an experienced data scientist with a geoscience background who is looking to take on a variety of new, exciting, and dynamic projects. Strong candidates will have a depth of background in data science and geoscience, as well as experience working with larger drill programs and exploration teams. There are multiple duty locations available for this role, although occasional travel to sites will be required as programs dictate.
Job Responsibilities • Rebuild of Bald Mtn Acquire workspace and implement Arena viewing platform across sites
• Automate production and exploration assay importing to prevent production loss and process failures
• Standardizing data management and performing QA/QC to ensure database integrity across Nevada sites
• Designing and improving existing workflows, particularly with regards to drilling and surface/underground geologic data capturing
• Work with exploration and production geology teams to meet program goals, often at short notice
• License management for geologic software across Nevada sites
• Provide technical support for immediate issues
• Ensuring reserve quality datasets are extractable for annual reserve reporting
Education and Experience • BS or BA degree in Geosciences, or data science
• Broad-based experience in greenfields/brownfields exploration with at least 5 years experience working in mining/exploration environments
• Strong written communication and presentation skills
• Good interpersonal skills and willingness to consider alternative hypothesis and perspective.
• Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, stay organized and effectively manage priorities in a dynamic work environment.
• Proficient with database applications, preference given to candidates with prior acQuire experience.
• Be authorized, or able to be authorized, to work in the United States on a full time basis.
Reporting Relationships • Typically reports into the Chief Geologist
