Min Hourly Rate $14.20 (Standard); $13.20 (Non-Urban); $15.45 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $20.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Information Technology position within Decision Support at Oregon State University (OSU). Decision Support is the central university organization responsible for providing access to actionable and accurate information by leading the OSU community to organize, strengthen, and advance institutional reporting, analytics, and data literacy across the University. Decision Support is hiring a student worker to work at our Data Reference Desk (DRD) reducing complexity and connecting our users with the information they need to use and understand the data and tools they have available to them. This work involves helping users solve their "data puzzles" and directing them to the right resources and services. By providing warm, respectful and attentive customer service, the DRD supports users in a way that meets them where they are and also empowers them to complete their work. The student employees will also help the Decision Support team with generating documentation based on user requests and questions. Day to day, this work includes activities such as answering user questions via our ticketing system, troubleshooting user issues over email, writing clear and succinct help documentation, writing and updating service tickets, data cleaning and preparation in service to operational metrics and processes and assisting with data projects as needed. Opportunities may also exist to practice and leverage data analysis skills, data visualization, process management, design thinking, and collaboration. Position Duties Help OSU community members with their data needs via email, chat or conference call Research and troubleshoot data and data tool issues and questions using knowledge base and content experts Communicate effectively, clearly, and completely with users and Decision Support team Maintain data quality and up-to-date tickets Engage in ongoing and proactive review and prioritization of work Assist with preparing standard operating metrics and other analyses in Tableau, Excel and other data reporting tools Interact with two ticketing systems; ensuring fidelity of data in both systems Provide excellent customer service Data entry and documentation on customer requests in ticketing systems and knowledge bases Support the transition to a new ticket and support system Edit and write documentation on data and data tools based on problem resolution Maintain a consistent schedule and meet deadlines and requests in a timely and professional manner Participate in a team-oriented environment Participate in team-meetings and work planning activities Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Able to provide excellent customer service Strong business and technical communication skills in written and verbal forms High attention to detail, especially in written or technical environments Detail oriented troubleshooting skills Able to consistently work at least 10 hours/week while taking classes Able to work shifts between 8am and 5pm Pacific Standard Time (PST) on days between Monday and Friday Ability to maintain self-directed work, stay on schedule and meet deadlines in a timely and professional manner Proficiency working with word processing and spreadsheet software This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard ******** et seq.
