Overview

RTI International seeks a prospect for the Data Analyst Internship within the Social, Satistical, & Environmental Sciences (SSES) unit.

This internship is a contract position. The employment contract is administered by Greene Resources Powered by Array, RTI's supplemental staffing partner.

In the Justice Practice Area our work is building the evidence base to advance justice, safety, and resilience in our communities. We seek to (1)understand the prevalence, characteristics, and correlates of crime and victimization and (2) develop and assess strategies to promote safety, accountability, and resilience. We are organized around the primary stakeholders in and consumers of our research, evaluation, quality assurance, and knowledge translation projects. These stakeholders include victim services providers, public health entities, law enforcement, and agencies in judicial and correctional systems, as well as the communities that these agencies and systems serve. The Justice Practice Area includes a wide variety of experts to lead and support projects that encompass cross-sector and multidisciplinary approaches to advance science and promote justice. The most important aspect of what we do is conducting work that is practical and impactful to the agencies and individuals working to promote justice, safety, and resilience.

The Data Analyst intern will work on the IDRACS Needs Assessment Project, a two-year project that aims to develop and implement assessment and case planning tools for the Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS). The intern will assist the project team with tasks such as conducting literature reviews, collecting relevant survey measures, and assisting with the program/services inventory. The intern will also have the opportunity to learn about the theory and application of the Integrated Dynamic Risk Assessment for Community Supervision (IDRACS) and the needs and responsivity assessment tools that are being developed for DCS staff.

Learning Objectives:
Learn about needs assessments in community corrections.
Learn about the development of survey instruments.
Responsibilities Conduct literature reviews on topics related to criminogenic needs, responsivity factors, and case planning for individuals on felony probation or parole.
Collect and organize survey data from service providers and vendors in Georgia.
Assist with the categorization and matching of services and resources to specific needs and responsivity factors.
Support the development and revision of the assessment and case planning tools and materials.
Participate in project meetings and provide feedback and suggestions

Additional Information

This virtual paid internship will take place from June 2024 through May 2025. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship
Current undergraduate senior level or graduate student pursuing a degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, public policy, or related field.
Experience with conducting literature reviews and synthesizing information from various sources.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Must attach a cover letter expressing your interest in the position
Preferred Qualifications Strong interest and knowledge in evidence-based practices for community supervision and correctional interventions.
