We are hiring a part-time custodian to join the Journey Education team. The Journey custodian will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and functionality within the school premises. Finding just the right team member is vital to provide the culture that makes Journey thrive. Hours: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday and as needed for special events or activities. Journey follows the CCSD 9-month school calendar. Custodian hours are on days that school is open. Summer hours in June and July are minimal. Position starts at $18.00 an hour. Start date August 5, 2024 Key Responsibilities: Cleaning and Maintenance Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in classrooms, hallways, and other common areas. Dust, polish, and wipe furniture, fixtures, and surfaces. Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors. Empty trash cans and replace liners as needed. Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces. Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained. Maintain outdoor grounds ensuring sidewalks and playgrounds are clean of debris and rocks. Safety and Security Monitor and address safety hazards, such as spills or debris. Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to appropriate personnel. Maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Facility Support Set up and arrange furniture for special events or activities. Assist with the set-up and breakdown of equipment for meetings or assemblies. Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs or fixing leaks. Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and submit requests for replenishment as needed. Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to address cleaning needs and special requests. Job Requirements: Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies. Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects. Strong work ethic: willingness to go above and beyond in working with students. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commit to a contract that goes to the end of the school year. Complete application and submit two references.
